History

This temple was built to honor Lord Mahavira, whose teachings of non-violence, truth and renunciation continue to inspire millions. The temple has survived invasions, time and weather and still stands as a symbol of Jain heritage.

Architecture

The Jain Mahavira Temple is a masterpiece of early Nagara style of architecture. The craftsmanship is a reflection of the artistry and devotion of that time.

• The Shikhara (spire) rises above the sanctum, topped with an amalaka and kalasha.
• The entrance gateway and mandapa (hall) have intricately carved gods, goddesses, floral designs and dancers.

• Beautiful toranas (arched gateways) and pillared corridors add to the beauty of the temple.
