Galta Ji Temple, situated among the Aravali hills, about 10 km east of Jaipur, is famous for its sanctity, natural beauty and unique atmosphere. Built in the 18th century, this temple complex is surrounded by natural springs, holy pools and temples nestled in the hills. Hundreds of monkeys live here, due to which it is fondly called Monkey Temple. This place is considered to be the place of penance of Rishi Galav, and even today, it is a wonderful confluence of peace and spirituality for Hindu pilgrims and tourists.
A large number of Rhesus macaque monkeys live in the temple complex. These monkeys are considered sacred here and devotees often feed them. Their playfulness and presence make the place lively and interesting.
The weather is pleasant from October to March. Special bathing and worship are organised here on the occasion of Makar Sankranti.
