Located on Srinagar Road, Ajmer, Mayo College is a prestigious boys' boarding school in India. It was founded in 1875 by Richard Burke, 6th Earl of Mayo. He aimed to establish an institution like “Eton College” in India too. Initially, it was a school for the princes and nobles of Rajputana, but over time, it became a top-class educational centre for students from all over the country. Established in 1875, this college was considered the centre of elite education in the British era. Due to its excellent system and teaching method, it came to be known as “Indian Eton”. Many future leaders of royal families and princely states have received their education from here.
